Message: I recently bought a bike fitted with a Shimano Sora front mech and triple chainrings with an 8 speed block. This weekend, I noticed that the front cage was not parallel with the outer chainring as I believed it was meant to be and as I have always set them up. (It had the rear of the cage skewed outward. I rotated the mech to bring it into line and set about readjusting the cable as this had obviously been affected. I can't now seem to get the same range of gears that I originally had however hard I try. The smallest chainring will only work with the largest three cogs, the middle will only work with the middle four and the outer ring will only work with the smallest three cogs. (This is with without rubbing the cage). Is this the best I should expect or is some rotational offset allowed to enable a larger range of gears to be achieved.
