That's just nonsense.It's a new bike with 9 speed everything. Besides, 8 speed 600(ultegra) was never made as a triple, so there could be no mixing of chains/FDs. FWIW, a 9 speed shimano triple road FD will work with an 8 speed chain anyway.Done it several times.
