Any suggestions?>I'm going to guess that your CHAIN is the wrong type ... the 9-speed Ultegra requires that the chain-type MATCH the front derailleur-type ... 8-speed chain (e.g., HG-70) with an 8-speed front derailleur AND a 9-speed chain (e.g., HG-73) with a 9-speed front derailleur. >So, if you have a "new" 9-speed chain, but did not ALSO change the front derailleur, it won't shift properly. That's just nonsense.It's a new bike with 9 speed everything. Besides, 8 speed 600(ultegra) was never made as a triple, so there could be no mixing of chains/FDs. FWIW, a 9 speed shimano triple road FD will work with an 8 speed chain anyway.Done it several times.
