>>I'm looking for a tool to remove the bore cap on a xtr disc caliper.... it doesn't seem to exist according to the shimano sources I've contacted anyone have any ideas??? Or.... how do I remove the pistons to service the caliper.>If you have a sticky piston and need to service it, what you should do is to
>-remove wheel and pads
>-hold one piston while compressing lever to expose the other piston but be careful not to pop piston out.
>-clean and apply a light coating of oil that will not harm seals
>-use a large flat screw driver to push piston back in.
>-repeat on other side
>if you really want to take the whole caliper, you can try a number 35t torx wrench but be warned, the calipar is not intended to be taken apart by the normal person. This may not work because Shimano applies a large amount of thread lock to the bore cap. Most of the ones that I have encountered will not come loose and I have even had some customers destroy the bore cap because it will not move and they try to force the wrench
That is right, Shimano doesn't want user breakdown they product. And the is hard to recombination. Maybe I would say, that is possible!!
