Message: I crashed recently going downhill around 35 as I touched the brakes, the front fork (6-yr-old Aegis carbon) failed and broke off. I was taken out by heliocopter to Suburban hospital with apparent head injuries. As I can reconstruct it, when I lost the front wheel assembly, I went over the handle bars, hit my brand-new helmet on the ground then went over onto my shoulders, back and butt. Lots of road rash on those parts and still suffering from muscle injuries in my legs...
