: I am thinking about repainting my 94' Nishiki Ariel and was thinking about getting it powder coated. Of course I might just do it myself but I want to ask you for any advice you may have to help me out here.

With paint, you really get what you pay for. You could do it yourself, but unless you have had a lot of experience painting bikes, it will look like you did it yourself.

Powder coating is a great option, providing your local powder coater has experience with bikes. Also, if your bike is aluminum, check with the manufacturer to make sure that the temperatures involved in the process won't adversely affect the material's temper. Outside of that, powders are good beacause they're durable, inexpensive and less toxic than paint.
