I'm personally a hardtail fan because I mainly use my bike for cross country racing and trials.

If you're planning on using your bike mainly for cross-country riding, you should probably consider buying a "soft" seatpost. They're a good alternative and a lot cheaper and safer than having your frame twindled with. RockShox makes some nice ones.

Remember that an F/S bike will be to your disadvantage going uphill unless you can block them.
