It (the bike)has v-brakes, and no place to mount a rear cable guide, nor does it have the welded-on guide for for the cantis like the older GTs have. I want to use road levers. I can put a cable hanger on the stem for the front and use a canti, but I'm at a loss about the rear caliper. It was very kindly suggested earlier that I use a cable hanger for the seat tube, but I don't think that'll work, given the shape of the frame. How well do these "cable converters"- the ones that allow you to use road levers with v-brakes- work for commuting, some speed riding, etc.? A travel agent will work just fine for converting road brake levers to a V-brake. As long as you set up the travel agent properly and keep it lubricated you should not have any problems. As a side note, I remember seeing a V-brake that was set up to be used with road levers advertized a few months back. I do not remember where I saw it or who made it (I believe it was intended for cyclo-cross bikes). A good bike shop should be able to find out about it, if it is still around.
