Message: there is a new cdrom that michelin sponsored. it has tons of neat hints on how to work with tubeless tires. here there link. http://bfr-it.com>>By bike has tubeless tyres but came with inner tubes fitted. I've been riding it like thhat for a while but now want to go tubeless. I took the inner tube out and fitted the tubeless valve that came with the bike. I had no problem sitting the tyre an inflating. Unfortunately the air leaked away via the valve. I tried tightening the valve by hand and then with pliers but that didn't help. I took out the valve and re-inserted into the strip/rim making sure it was sitting properly but I air still leaks out. Try this about 4 times and gave up. Had to go back to having inner tubes. >>Anyone know of a way of making the valve and rim airtight? >>TIA >>Alex >I havn't worked with tubeless tires, but I have these suggestions. Is there supposed to be a gasket piece for the valve you are leaving out? Is the hole in the rim a nice clean hole, or is there a little burr or such that is causing the leak? You didn't mention if the wheels are for tubeless tires, if they are not tubeless wheels you can't use tubeless tires. As a last resort, I would put the valve stem into the rim with some silicon glue around the hole/stem to seal it up. Let the glue set up good before inflating the tire, and it would be better to use a little to much than not enough.
