Premature wear on cheap parts is my thought. I have the same problem you do. 2700 miles both outer rings are toast. Always lubed and clean. Changed to a sram 99 chain was a big help for about 1.5 months. Changed to a 53 gear that's wearing just as bad and shifting has deteriorated horribly. Just look in all the bike catalogs, all the replacement Shitmano parts avalible means they are planning on a wind fall of many worn out hardware items. So unless you only ride 300 miles a year good luck, and keep sending them those $50's and $100's.. Thank you Shitmano for some expensive junk.
