Question is at what point do I need to start shortening my cable housing to compensate for the narrower bar? My guess is that it will make a difference in cable action after a point. Thanks. You should not have to shorten housing for this at all. If you were lowering or raising the bars then you would have to alter the length. Start small on the cutting, 2inches on each side is the equivalent of one grip, that is a hell of a lot of bar to cut. Start with centimeters, measure twice; cut once. Wider bars allow for easier breathing and better control and climbing, faster starts (more leverage).
