The 8-speed Shimano shifters [except DA which were only for double cranks] were EITHER triple OR double compatible; with the triple compatible left lever having a removable sticker to identify them when they were NIB. You'll just have to ask the seller ... If you want to use a Flight Deck, consider getting one of the "universal" mtb harnesses -- the two buttons are on a separate module [clamping size is for a mtb handlebar, so some "modification" may be necessary].
