>Thanks for the info. I have tried an older aluminum post and it holds fine. I was tryng to avoid the beer can shim method, but it has worked fo me in the past. BTW is said my frame was reamed and faced not just the seat tube.
When you say the older, aluminum post holds fine, do you mean to say that you actually rode the bike with the aluminum post (for a few miles or more) OR are you saying it seems to be snug when it is mounted in the frame?
The REAL problem I have is not with the difference between reaming & facing BUT why the guy/girl who prepped the the frame reamed the seat tube at all with anything more than a piece of wet-dry sandpaper!
The beer/soda can shim is too much UNLESS real "damage" was done to the frame during prepping.
